Francisco J. Clavijero Theater

The Francisco J. Clavijero Theater is one of the most important and historical cultural venues in Veracruz, with theatrical antecedents dating back to the colonial era when the old Comedy House existed. The current building, inaugurated in 1902 during the Porfiriato, stands out for its neoclassical architecture of French influence and has been the stage for opera, theater, concerts, cinema, and historical events of the port. Throughout its history it suffered fires, name changes, and periods of restoration, until it became a cultural symbol of the historic center and took the name of the Veracruz historian Francisco Javier Clavijero.
