Hugo Argüelles Veracruz Center for the Arts

Discover CEVART, which occupies a building whose history dates back to the 18th century. Originally it was part of the walled city of Veracruz and belonged to important merchants of the port. Throughout the 19th century it had different commercial uses, including shops, a hotel, offices, and shipping agencies. In 2004 it was inaugurated as the Veracruz Center for the Arts and named after the Veracruz dramatist Hugo Argüelles. It currently functions as an important space for artistic training, workshops, exhibitions, dance, theater, and cultural activities. In 2015 it was rehabilitated and modernized to preserve the historical building and adapt it to new cultural activities.
