Callejón de los Desamparados

It received this name because the prisoners of the Santa Inquisición were led through here before being transferred to Mexico City to be tried. Today it bears the name of José Joaquín Herrera. It stands out for its ancient constructions made with hard coral and mortar made with sand from the Jamapa River and lime obtained from coral and sea shells.
